OK so the title of the thread may be a bit misleading because I didn't actually enter the derby. I brought my Daughter and our dog Fredrick out with me for the weekend so I decided not to enter the derby as I would have too many "good" distractions to take the derby serious.
Expecting a large crowd for the weekend the Team 57 crew decided we'd camp inside for this one. The family and I arrived at the lake at the somewhat later than normal time of just shy of 8pm on Friday night. A bunch of the crew had already set up camp for the evening. As night slowly turned into morning the group grew to 15+ peeps. Per the norm there was lots of great food and good times around the campfire. When the firewood ran out though so did the crowd for the night.
I started out trolling the next morning shortly after 6am just in time for yet another beautiful Vine sunrise!

Dad was the first one to land a fish on the leadcore.

I let my Daughter fish my two top water set ups with the spinning reels because they are easier to use IMO. She was next to hook-up on a fish and I shot this video of her landing the fish and Dad "expertly" netting it for her.

By 11am and half a dozen fish later it was getting close to that time.... the main event of the day.... drumroll please.... Big Daddy's BREAKFAST ON THE WATER! We located his boat (Jo' Momma II) out by the dam. Hometown, Hook Um Dano, and the Pedro Pirate were already in line getting their plates. Just as soon as they cleared the drive-thru we pulled in to get our plates. I shot this video of the whole transaction but it came to an abrupt end when I dumped my whole plate of food in my lap. Big Daddy being the generous friend he is immediately called me back over to get another plate. What a class act for always doing this for everyone buddy! Check out this cool video....

We decided to end the day at noon to beat the crowd at the launch ramp. After loading the boat we hung out and waited for the raffle. Frenchie scored some Berkley gear and a awesome shirt that just happens to fit Dad. She had the biggest fish of the day (the one she caught in the video) and three fish total. I ended the day with 3 fish also.
Water temp: 61f to 63f
Method: trolling (fly-lined & leadcore)
Bait: various lures all dipped/soaked in Bite-On Anise
Fish count: 6
I won't be able to do any fishing this weekend but in two weeks we'll be having the BB Custom & Team 57 event called "Trout"sgiving! It's always a fun time with lots of good food Team 57 style.
