The Veterans Day Weekend Trophy Trout Tournament is in the books and we now know our first (10) ten qualifiers for the Masters Tournament in April. Looking back on this weekend I can not get over the sheer amount of QUALITY fish brought to the scales. Their where a bunch of big Rainbows and Browns that where brought up to the scales this week. The big Browns have been in the water for 10 days and just decieded to start biting this weekend. Guess they choose a GREAT weekend to bite as it was a tournament weekend.

Once again finding the better fish was the key to placing in the tournament. The fish where a little bit more spread out today than yesterday so anglers who where able to cover more ground by throwing lures, trolling, or drifting from their float tubes did very well. Shore anglers also did very well at the West Shore, Red Clay Cliffs and the Santiago Flats.

Bait fisherman where doing very well early on the West Shore with a variety of Powerbaits catching the fish. Guys throwing nightcrawlers also did very well early and late. Adding scents to your baits is advised to make your baits stand out from others in the water. Some anglers where throwing the whole scent package at them meaning using Garlic Powerbait with Bite On Garlic and a Dust scent of some sort either being the Bite On Fury or Berkley Power Dust.

Trollers also continued to find the fish as these fish have become focused on the bait faster than this writer has ever seen. These fish (Browns, Rainbows, and Brooks) are REALLY focused on the lakes abundant baitfish populations. There are a ton of silversides and shad schools that these fish are feeding on. Trollers are doing well on the Flickershads, DR Minnow style baits, SC Shiners and Rapalas. Adding scents to these baits also proved effective.

Lure tossers did very very well too! Guys throwing the Trout worms did good espically in baitfish colors such as whites, grey and whites or smokes. Three of the big BROWNS this week where taken on this method alone!!!!!! HINT HINT Also casting a roostertail or Kastmaster from shore in the early morning hours got a few eager fish to go.

Todays big winner is Mr Andrew Navarro of Garden Grove with this amazing 9.35lb Brown Trout he caught while fishing a Trout King Trout Worm from the West Shore. This fish earned Andrew first place in todays tournament and a nice $680 pay day.
