Today was the 1st day in the Veterans Day Weekend Trophy Trout Tournament and what a day it was! Anglers where greeted to picture perfect Trout weather with cool temperatures in the am hours and t-shirt weather in the afternoon. On top of the 20,000lb Opening Weekend stocking Irvine Lake stocked 5,000lbs to top off the weekend which included some lunker Rainbow and Browns.
Fishing was really good today for all types of fishing. Guys who trolled did very well as did bait fisherman and lure tossers. Fish where coming from all over the lake. Guys on the West Shore did very well with Nightcrawlers, Powerbait and mini jigs. Adding scents such as the NEW Berkley Power Dust, Bite On Garlic and other scents defintley did help attract the fish admist all the offerings out there. Trollers did very well along the West Shore bouy line, Red Clay Cliffs and on baitballs of Silversides and Shad which where spread out throught the lake. Guys throwing mini jigs and Trout Worms also scored a ton of fish along various locales.

Irvine Lake staff would like to thank all 199 tournament anglers for their participation in the derby today. It was a great time and a lot of good fish made there way to the scales. Also a huge thank you to the sponsers: Berkley, Bite On, Diawa, VCGIRLS Sun Protection, Addicted to the Bite, and Booyaa! Tomorrow bring on day two in the Veterans Day Weekend Trophy Trout Tournament. After tomorrow we will know who moves on to the Masters. Cant wait to see everyone tomorrow for the final day of the Tournament.
