Immediately upon entering we both were in shock at the low level of the lake. The area we fished last year and even late May was high and dry. I drove to the west side launch ramp, an area ten feet underwater last year and launch our 15 foot Whaler

We shoved off and made our first anchor drop near the launch area in a crowd of float tubers, a good sign. My first cast in and a few minutes later my rod went bendo as a nice 3 pound rainbow trout fell for my offering. Soon after a few pictures, Casey was on and fighting another rainbow trout. All around us lines were a tightening and nets were a scooping up big rainbow and brown trout. We even managed a double hook up as my theory of roving schools of rainbow trout was confirmed.

We fished from 7 am to 11:30 and caught 7 fish between the two of us, a short day that without a doubt would have guaranteed limits had we fished a whole day.

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES

Light line is the name of the game for trout; I fished two and three pound line, small hooks (#16-18), weights (1/8- ¼ ounce egg), and swivels (small) too. The baits we caught our fish on were white power worms, rainbow power bait, orange headed green tailed mice tails, and salmon eggs.

Still trying to figure out the picture thing

Use your imagination, some fins, couple eyes, rainbow pattern with dots.

Site keeps rejecting any upload or url link. Got some pics on the site here with the full story (http://adoutdoors.com/2013/11/04/3175/)

Welcome to the world of stocked trout. Tails like this are common, even in the 10lb+ class.

What you don't like my sketches? J/K don't know how many times i have tried to explain my set ups to people and they don't get it. All the trout had chewed tails.
