It's Back! (11/2/13 Report)

So Cal trout season 2013/14 is here baby! I don't know which I look forward to more, fishing for trout again or getting together with the Team 57 crew to camp out and share good times around the campfire. My anticipation didn't disappoint as we had a good size crowd camping the line the night before.

Another thing I missed about trout season.... watching yet another beautiful Da'vine sunrise on the lake!

The morning before daylight savings was to end just like on VIP day it was still dark out at 6am when the gates opened and again it started out slow but as soon as the sun came over the hill the fish started biting.

theWizard was the first on the scoreboard with his first trout of the season!

I was next to land a fish but it went right in to the basket so no pic. I did take this photo though. You know your slayin" when the boat's bathed in trout blood!

Fishing was outstanding and theWizard and I had our easy limits of quality trout by 2pm.

Water temp: 64-66f
Method: Trolling (flylined & leadcore)
Bait/Lure: Various lures all dipped/soaked in Bite-On

All in all the crowds were light for it being opening weekend. Fishing seemed to be best on the West shore but if you try hard enough the fish have spread out by now and can be found all over the lake. Lot's of nice fish went into the lake and not too many of them have been caught yet. I'm sooo tempted to play "hooky" sometime this week and get my weekday slay on.

A bunch of us will be getting together again this Friday night to BBQ/camp the line and to fish the tournament Saturday. Come join us for some good times and great fishing by the campfire!

Is it just me or does it bother anyone else that the wizard has six fish instead of five?
How did you get away with one extra?
I mean come on that pisses me off when you see somebody taking extra fish.

Actually that's both our fish the other four I gave to the dock guys who loaned us a fish basket for the day cause I forgot my stringer. Thank you for your concern though.

Nice going out there TaperSteve, looks like you guys did well on the troll.... eventhough "the lake is too low"(say the trollers who like to gripe), the crowds were thick (said the internet fisherman) and the fish got hammered on Friday and you STILL managed a good catch? :Shocked: :Wink:
