Trout Season 2013/2014 defintley started out with a bang! In anticipation of the Opener we stocked some 20,000lbs of Rainbows, Brooks and Browns just for this Opening Weekend!! From here on out we will be stocking 5,000lbs of fish each and every week. Fishing was fantastic on Friday as you can see from my previous report. The bite kept going strong through the weekend as well as Rainbows up to 11.25lbs where brought to the scales and Browns up to 8.1lbs where checked in as well.

The big fish where defitnley around to as stories of broken lines and bent hooks kept coming in. Float tubers reported seeing the fish cruising after silversides on the West Shore so matching the hatch would help. Speaking of fish being on the bait allready some float tubers reported that the BIG Trout where blowing up like Yellowtail on bird schools and bait. The Brooks where also pushing bait up to the West Shore.

Trollers did real well all weekend trolling anything Pink!! The pink Flickershad, SC Shiner, and Thomas Bouyant did really well at scoring both limits and quality fish. Of course the firetigers and chrome clown colors did very well as well. Guys reported going slow from .8mph to 1.9mph was the key to getting bit.

Lure tossers did well on the Micro Plastics from Trout King, Berkley and Lip Ripperz. Dropshotting these finesse style worms was a good way to hook into a quality Rainbow, Brown or Brook. An array of colors did really well this weekend but the hot colors where the White Lighting, Orange and Pink colors. For all you plastic guys out their the Irvine Lake shop is now carrying Trout King Plastics.

Bait dunkers did well on all the Garlic Powerbaits. With the water being clear the Natural Garlic (medical green color) and Rainbow proved to be the hot baits. Some anglers did really well on the Salmon Egg Red Powerbait. As the weekend wore on the Nightcrawler bite also picked up possibly in anticipation of a little low pressure front that is supoose to pass through the area mid week.

And I can hear everybody on the other end of the keyboard chomping at the bit allready! Lets see the pictures!!!!!!

Thank you to Dawn, Joe, and Bob Hoose from Berkley for the great buy a jar of powerbait get the NEW Berkley Power Dust free promotion! Thank you to the Bite On crew, Eddie, Tony, Aaron, Chris, Josh and Lily your Sunday Create Bait promotion was off the hook. The guys and gals at Calavares Trout Farms (Tim, Stacey, Steven and Nathan) AMAZING job as always. Those fish where UNBELIEVABLE! And I can not wait to see what you guys have in store for us! To my staff for an unbelievably busy weekend it went great.

To Daniela UNBELIEVABLY AMAZING JOB ON THE OPENER!!!!! I still owe you a drink and we will do that soon! A lot of you guys dont see all the additonal work myself and this phenominal lady put in! Their where a lot of hours during the CLOSED days that we put in 12 hr days. A lot of frantic phone calls on getting things together and making everything right. She works herself ragged and she put in a pretty grueling week from start to finish! We have been doing this for awhile together and I can not think of a better person to call my Parner in putting a lot of the Tournaments and Openers together. Most of all I think of her like a friend! She cares deeply about all of you and the lake. So once agian GReat JOB

To the board of directors who make this all possible by backing us up and allowing us to put a QUALITY and family fun experice on the table thank you. You guys are amazing and we appreciate the support.

Thank you all for reading even though I got a little sappy at the end. We hope to see eveyone through out the week and hopefully for next weekends tournament. As always until next time!
Tight lines guys and gals.
Jimmy

Wow! good job everyone. Looks like they killed em out there. May I ask how the weeds are currently? The last time I was there we could barely fish it was so concentrated. Thanks!

What a great start to the season...hoping for another shot at a DD this season!

Weeds aren't bad at all, just avoid the shallower areas for another few weeks until colder water does its thing to the remaining moss. Good luck!

See you on the water!
