Ruben, Joe and I met in line at 5:00. It wasn't long before the line got unmanageably long, I'm glad we didn't get there any later.

We caught up with Bassfan and DMS in line. Great seeing you guys!

The first order of business was to race to the bait spot and try to anchor and start fishing before anyone else. We managed it but just barely. DMS was anchoring at the same time we were.

We got the baits out and nothing happened! I was expecting instant hook ups but the striper must have been sleeping in.

About a half hour later we started getting some tentative hits. They weren't holding on long before spitting. I hooked one by dropping the bait to it after the hit, then when my other pole got hit, I set the hook with my reel hand and handed the first pole to Joe. Joe landed his but mine spit the hook at the surface.

It took a while for things to heat up but we caught them once in a while.

Ruben got one that put up a nice fight!

I got one that pulled a little on the drag!

Bassfan came and anchored up on the other side of DMS. He put on an impressive dink slay then came up with a 5 pounder after DMS went on the troll.

With the marginal bait that we had it made hooking fish tough. They were stealing the baits more often than not.

Joe had a slow start but began quietly catching fish later in the day.

We ended up catching 28 fish. Two 9 1/2 inch ones were thrown back because Ruben shamed me into not keeping them. Sorry Bob!

With good bait I'm sure we would have had easy limits. That's not a bad day considering that our bait was disintegrating when it was hit.

Sure!

I'm beginning to understand what Bob means when he calls us bait whores, I'm ready to go to great lengths to get the striper crack.

That picture says it all, you are a killer!
I wanted to thank you for protecting my identity in that picture with my 5 lb. fish. The FBI will never know its me..
Had 16 total for the day including 3 or 4 micro dinks, one 5 and one 3 lb. and the rest standard size troll dinks.

That pic was with my phone zoomed all the way in. You were pretty far away.

Thank you. We had a lot more action than it seems. They were stealing bait big time.

Thanks,

It was funny, those bigger fish were picking at the bait too. It was hard to be sure if we were swinging on a little one or a big one.
