It's not been regular but we've been able to get out together once or twice a month since August. I'm talking the daddy-daughter fishing adventurers. We've reached a point now where the girls a pretty proficient. I rig their poles before we go, get to our appointed AO, everyone grabs their poles and stuff when we get there, i let the girls look at the beach for the likely fish spots (been teaching them each time we go how to recognize structure), then they we all go for it. I love to watch them do their thing. They're little fish masters and so confidant.

Here's what is happening more now: people (friends and folks at our church) are starting to hear about the fun me and the girls have fishing. Regularly now we are being approached about taking dads and their kids fishing. Moms ask me if I will take their husbands and kids. Dads ask me too. It's amazing. I never realized the desire out there. I think part of it is that people see what a good time of bonding it is for us and their looking for the same thing. Another part of this desire is that many people see fishing as a lost art or a memory of something they did when they were kids with their dads. They would like to recapture it. The problem though is they don't know how to actually catch fish.

So I've been thinking how the girls and I can be a blessing to people with our fishing. I am not fully sure yet (I would love some ideas to consider). However we decided to start by inviting a Dad and his two boys to go fishing last Saturday. For this to be really successful we figured we needed to do two things:

1. Make sure that they would catch fish on their first outing with us. So we picked an AO where I knew there would be fish (perch to be
specific). We tried to make sure that conditions were both mild and as "fishy" (low waves, low wind, high tide) as possible.

2. The girls and I would spend the time helping them catch fish. We weren't going for ourselves but to make sure our friends had a
great time and caught something

Here's what happened: Alexa and I picked up our friends (Noelle couldn't make it this trip). We got to the beach and gave them two rules - don't lay their poles on the sand or dunk them in the water (actually they were our poles :EyePop:0). Then we handed them their (our ) poles and hit the beach Alexa demonstrated first then the boys started casting. The Older one was a natural so Alexa and I focused on helping the younger. We would take turns casting for him, hook a fish and then let him reel it in.

Mission AccomplishedThe older one caught 5 and the younger caught 3. They and their dad were thrilled!!!:Bug Eyes: We heard from the mom the next day how much fun they had fishing with us. Alexa totally loved the experience. So I think we will do this again. It's a good feeling to share something and see how it can really bring joy to others.

Heard the dog barking out back while I was posting this. Here's what I found on the back wall - a big rat???

Right on! That is what we are talking about! Family, Friends, Fun, Fishing...

Great job out there! Regardless of whether you went out and caught something, you taught the kids something important, fellowship. Hope the dads got onto something as well though. Keep up His good works out there!

:Big Grin: Sweet Job Bro :Big Grin:
Huge props to you and Alexa getting others on some fish, but more importantly....MEMORIES ..
You would be amazed at the number of people who would like to just get out and hit the sand, while catching a few fish...
Friends at church ask me regularly about my trips out in the surf.
I've invited them, but they never take me up on it...:Rolls Eyes:
I think if you were to put something in the weekly bulletin, about a short trip to the beach for some fishing, you would be pleasantly surprised ..
Thank you for sharing this lovely story.

Way to "Pay it Forward." You certainly do "Get It". :Big Grin:
Hats off to you and your Girls for caring about somebody else's happiness, more than you do for your own.
You will be rewarded by the Man upstairs when you least expect it.
