Get to the line were like 5th at 0500. What the heck, no big deal we launch and 4th cove peels my line. This is my not even 24 hour old new rod and reel. I feel the tuck and the headshakes and it felt awesome. Get her in for a 6.22 lb striper. Trolled some more and got one here, a bass there, and then a couple stripers at the little dam. I cant seem to break the 4 striper barrier. What was awesome was we were getting numerous strikes in the morning. what sucked was out of all the strikes in the morning we had about 4-5 bend my hooks and come off and then the occasional strike. Its time I upgrade my hooks that's for sure. Super Flukes in shad color got the fish.

weather was very nice, light breeze, sun was in and out of the clouds just enough to warm you up as the chill would hit. Water temp was hitting 67 degrees.

My new rod.............busted towards the end of the day. I was pissed and went back to Last Chance to let them know the reel busted. Long and behold, they very graciously took care of me and found out what the problem was and fixed it no problem. You guys are awesome as usual!

2 broken trolling reels in 1 month, I was ready to hang up the trolling and go back to my bass fishing................all until Matt figured out the problem. Now I guess I have to stick it out for some more stripers. I blame you Matt. Again, I say again, this is strictly a seasonal fix im getting right now. Once I get my biggun striper im back to bass fishing. I swear :)

oh yea I did waste about an hour or so playing around at the marina, got another brown trout.

beautiful sunset too!

Nice catch Ben. So one trip with TO and you have become a Striper junkie and given up on the UGC? In less than two weeks ya got the Vail Lake Military Appreciation Tournament and Vail has no Stripers. Ya better get your UGC game back on if you want to win it.... :Envious:

Man not you too! All these name calling........I did not have relations with that striper......whoops wrong thread. I'm gonna laugh if I catch a striper in vail lol

Just think, I told you to take the day off, that could have been you driving to meet me instead of watching me go to the lake.

Fish killer!

Thank you for not be fish racist. I kill all fish equally (except bass, c&r) :Big Grin:

I take it you saw my post when you first logged in on the main page of new posts..........no big deal. I've only fished silver wood once but it was a good time limiting out on trout. Gotta say even though they were small man they were some beautiful trout. It's hard for me to drive that far when I have so many lakes in my back yard. I'd fish silver wood a lot if I was closer especially how cheap it was.

Upgrading hooks and split rings help but backing off drag especially if using braid helps out also. On the River we found that even 3-4 pound stripers can head shake and spring hooks on even the best of the shelf lures. Less drag and keep it in gear when knock down comes and our percentages increased. I went so far as to change out to spinner trebles to keep them from getting leverage. Just my opinion

When you say back off on the drag, do you mean Olsen or tighten? I do keep the motor in gear also. Thanks for the tips.

I loosen it. I found if I do manage to keep hooks intact and drag is tighter run risk of pull outs. Lost one this morning on lead line troll Havasu. MY knot for sure. Good luck
