My buddy Andy(mrjonez) and I hit the usual area this morning with our 6 lb setups. Had a great time messin' with the small to medium perch. Not much salad between the two jetties we were fishing, but there was a bunch gathered up around them. Lots of beans cruising in close. I've noticed them in this area before when the beach steep and calm like it was this morning. Kind of the opposite of skinny water; maybe they like the minimal risk of beaching themselves. Andy saw one doing a full headstand, so at least one was hungry. Lots of calm lulls between the small shore pound almost always revealed couple when I was watching for them. One big one rolled over to show me his belly as it cruised by. Cocky bastard.
Andy got a constant bite with Gulp products including their crickets. They look the part at the perch seemed to like them, but they're not very durable. Gulp Camo Crack and Shrimp were getting bit all morning. He managed the only big perch of the day with a badass foot long.
I was fishing a hair jig with a two foot leader trailing behind with an orange plastic. It was getting bit constantly, but only a few stuck; they were great 8-10" fighters on the noodle rod. This is the jig:

Lots of fun getting my feet wet again. Really looking forward to this winter!
