Port of Long Beach fishing ban

ATTENTION ALL FISHERMEN!!

HELP OVERTURN THE LAW AGAINST FISHING IN THE PORT OF LONG BEACH.

There will be a public hearing regarding our lawsuit against the City Of Long Beach regarding the Tariff #4 law prohibiting fishing anywhere in the Port of Long Beach. The harbor patrol officers have arbitrarily enforced this law recently, especially against lobster fishermen.

The meeting is tentatively set for 6:00 on October 29th at 925 Harbor Plaza in Long Beach. Public comment will be asked for.
We are inviting all fishermen who are interested in protecting our right to fish to this meeting. Please lend your support to this worthy cause and plan to attend.

This state is folding. The Outdoorsman is losing everything. Many areas are now protected from fishing and even motorboats. Fire pits are disappearing. Useless, lead bans for hunters is eventually going statewide, and it's only a matter of time before the lead fishing weight ban is introduced by another stupid CA Legislator.

I would love to know where the liberal leaders in this state will be satisfied. What is their end-all dream/outcome for this state?

You can blame Bin Laden on this. Ever since 9-11 Homeland Security has been in force. 100 yards security rule from all Container, Oil, and Cruise terminals has been the law. No anchors can be dropped in LA/LB inside the harbor, except a couple designated spots. This sucks but the rule has been in affect for a few years now. I'm surprised guys have been getting away hooping the oil islands within the 100 yard rule since a oil island could be considered a terrorist target.

Yes you can troll in areas that are legal for PBers (private boaters).

There is many Red Zones that you can not go into. Lots of radar watching boaters, at night in the fog too. PBers brake rules daily and get run out. There is many rules PBers are not aware of. Most are online and it will take you hours of studying.

We are talking about inner harbor here and near terminals. This is a huge port and posting signs would be useless.

Outer harbor rules are pretty simple. No Fishing on the inside of the middle or Federal breakwall. If you stop and fish there they can bust you or they will ignore you.

Having worked in the Port for over a decade, believe me they will hassle you. I've been busted and pulled over a dozen times, been boarded and searched, ran out of areas.

You have Port Police, LB Police, LAPD, Harbor Patrol, Sheriffs, Coast Guard, Lifeguards, DFG, Customs and Border Control, Harbor Department and more.

One time I got boarded at night (in LA not LB) by Long Beach Police with 3 US Coastguard inspectors on board, just for a routine inspection.

These guys are bored to death cruising back and forth all day burning gas. Seeing a PBer fishing is a great opportunity to actually do something for these agents. Now they can write in there report books that they did something.

Everything, Sharks to Perch. 20 - 30 species you see 100' feet or shallower.
Saw a dude catch a 7' thresher off the rocks by the QM.
