well many big thanks to flyhigh123 for the opportunity to jump aboard today to see what this trolling thing is all about  Was my first time on a boat at a lake in over 30 years probably... not since I was a kid and rode a rental boat with my parents when I was maybe 7 or 8 years old back when we used to go camping...
anyhow, since then, I've only been fishing from the shore at the local lakes... either off the dam at Castaic or the inlet/rocky areas at Pyramid.. and definitely more surf fishing these days with the summer heat.
so we met up at Gallions around 11:15 and on the water shortly thereafter... started the troll once we got to the spot, and wouldn't you know... maybe a few seconds after I set the rod in the holder, the first bite!! brought it in and was your typical schoolie  He said that was the fastest he ever hooked one trolling... his new record time! haha... man, we thought this might be a wide-open bite... but, as is the case sometimes like the first cast--first fish curse... didn't really get any bites after that... I saw some decent marks on his fish finder as we made several more passes, but the schools weren't really interested....
after that, we tried a couple bait/wait spots, but nobody was home and nobody was interested
about 1 1/2 hour before having to head back, we went back across the lake to try trolling again, and sure enough, got into some decent action there where we picked up 6 more, including this decent one which put up the best fight of the day:

I had a great time out on the water and definitely learned a lot about what most of you guys do on this forum... man, the weather was great... light winds... and cool temps. The action was just slow during the mid-afternoon lull, but picked up towards the end.

thanks again to flyhigh123 for taking a newbie out on his boat and having to deal with all the stuff that goes into taking a newbie out... met a great fellow fisherman on this forum.
