Thought this was worth posting. My buddy who also does fish mounts did this very awesome Black Grouper replica mount. Look at the detailed painting of the grouper's markings. All hand airbrushed. The eye looks very realistic too. Mike's work is second to none. If anyone wants to see more of his work, PM me and I'll send you his website address.

Very nice work, how big is it, from Mexico or ?
Check out these protected Broomtails in Redondo.
The first one color looks simular to the mount.

Thanks guys. Not sure those Broomtails are in King Harbor. The water is too clear and there's growing kelp. I could be wrong..

Absolutely beautiful work! Looks exactly like the real thing.
DR those are found in Florida / East Coast.

Fishmounter there is SOME kelp in King Harbor along the break wall just inside the entrance, just not much. But it's fairly shallow. Video could be from the outside of the break wall though, that looks more like it.

There are broomtails in King Harbor. Not sure if the video is from there but they are in there. Couple of years ago while getting bait you could drop a wounded dine in the water right next to the bait barge and they would come up and slurp them in. Very cool fish.

PS. Nice Mount your buddy does fishmount. wish I had something worth getting a replica made of. Cool vid DR.

Serranids have VERY difficult patterns to replicate. I can see some hiccups in the anatomy, but honestly, who else would notice that?
