Fished both Saturday and Sunday because the conditions were looking great plus had the fishing bug
Saturday 7:30am-12:00
Overcast then the sun came out at around noon.
Waves 1-2 feet
Water was clear but some areas were murky
When I arrived at the beach there were so many birds crashing down near the waters edge. Decided to start the session with my silver prism crocodile 5/8. Nothing until around 10 when they smelt started to bite. Hooked around maybe 7 smelt I think ,but only landed 4. There was so much bait in the water I even snagged a anchovy. End the session with a small dink perch.

Sunday 8:00- 12:30ish
Bright and sunny day.
Waves 1-3 feet.
Water was a bit murky with some kelp
When I arrive at the beach there were many birds ,but only a few of them were actually diving into the water. Started off with the Kroc again hehe can't get enough of how versatile this bait. Anyways, ending up catching three croakers the biggest was about around 15 inches and a small dink perch. My brother caught 2 BSP and lost nice croaker or corbina. Ended the trip with some bomb sandwiches and called it a day.

Nice shots of the birds. My wife thought I was over-exaggerating when I told her about the flocks in that area...till I showed her these pictures. I wish it translated into a little better bite on the flatties and seabass, but I guess it's just a matter of making that perfect cast into the flock, eh? Been fun pulling on all the YFC and BSP though, with some real chunkie guys in the mix. Nice shot of the chovy too. Seems to be a mix of chovy and smelt in there, cuz I've pulled in/snagged some smelt about that size too. Lots of bait...let's hope it keeps translating to lots of fish, especially this Saturday! See you out there!

I think that is one of the best Kroc sessions I've seen. Nice work! Sometimes I find throwing something that doesn't match the hatch, like a white or bone colored lure, may entice the fish to hone in on my offering. In other words the lure stands out from the rest of the pack.

The sight of the massive bird flocks is awesome. I was able to go see it on saturday, and you can smell the fishy scent in the air all along the beach.
Congrats on the catches and the trophy smelt! It looks bigger than the croakers
Thanks for sharing!

When you rock your croc, how do you generally retrieve it I am interested in trying them out. DO you do slow and steady, jerky injured baitfish, fast and slow mixe, all of the above! :) heh thanks for any advice!

@Slickwill43 Once you cast the kroc give it like 4-5 seconds to sink. Then give the rod a few jerks and then start to slowly reel the kroc back in. I find that the slow retrieve works best for the kroc. You should feel the vibration of the kroc through the rod tip. Mix in a few jerks and a pauses while reeling it in. Another tip is when your reeling in the kroc wait until the wave passes over by pausing your retrieve or slowing down even more so that your kroc doesn't get tossed around in the wave. Good luck!
