Just a little me time and my new little friend (BU 9/19 am)

well, the BU crew couldn't make it this am, my dad was busy, and no way on earth was the Mrs. gonna get up early out of bed this am :LOL: so decided to go on a solo mission this am... haven't done that in a while :Wink:

anyhow, decided also today that I wasn't gonna do the same 'ol perchin setup with sandcrabs.... was gonna just try using the LC, KM, and/or Croc this am only... so only took 1 setup for lures...

hit the road by 6:30am... and although my picture is crappy here... they say it was a Harvest Moon... and it looked pretty bright and big on my drive out from the Valley:

got to the spot around 7:15, and the conditions were ideal... small waves, very little salad, and slightly murky waters... there were some gravel beds around, but nothing major...

tied on the LC and tried my hand at slinging the hardbait... worked it all kinds of ways down the stretch of beach and didn't get a hit... ran into an old timer at the end of the beach and chit chatted for a while... nice talkin to you! and thanks for the pointers!

anyways, stayed down at the end for another 30 minutes or so, and nada... saw tons of birds hitting a bait ball back down where I came in from... so I said my goodbyes and headed back towards the birds/baitball... switched over to a 1/2 oz. silver prism KM and reached the edge of the birds...

here's what it looked like, they were crashing and just sitting really close to the shoreline.... looked like the wave pool at Raging Waters :LOL: :LOL:

started working the edge of birds/baitball, and wouldn't you know... started getting some nice hits.. and major bendo! nice little drag burner! caught my 1st ever fish from the surf on the KM, and it was a nice 14" perch:

kept working the area, and cast out a little further... started getting more hits, and landed the 1st of many of these guys:

saw Steve finally show up, and moved towards him and by this time, had caught around 8 YFCs and that slab perch...

while I was fishing next to Steve, caught a couple more YFCs... and Steve was kind enough to take this final pic for me:

Great pics and birds.
Kastmasters are great, surprised guys rarely use them. The med Kroc 2 1/2" is good Hali lure.

Nice job out there. Those YFCs are pretty good fighters, especially on light tackle.

Nicely done with the ol' spoon! That pretty much mimics the bait out there right now, and heaven k OSS there's tons of that out there. Nice shot of the birds too.:Wink: There are those times that theyre just out of casting range and you wish theyd move in just a bit more, but lately they get so dang thick it just gets unfishable...double edged sword, eh? Great report and picts! Looking forward to meeting you at HG5!
