I have a pelican boat with a 55lb trolling motor and want to buy a outboard motor to make sure that we make it to the boat dock. Its about $180 difference form 3.5 hp- 4.0 hp. Does .5 hp make diffrences if not just to get the 3.5. Thanks

I believe the 4,5,and 6 hp motors are the same block 123cc motors.Merc, Tohatsu, are the same block in the little motors.
As you go up in HP you get more engine RPMs. The TQ is probably the same, and some motors may have a diiferent prop/pitch size.

Bass pro shops has a mariner 3.5 for around 700.00 looks like a good buy.

Thanks for looking out - I end up buying a Tohatsu 4hp-4stroke at boat world they have a credit plan you have 6months with no interest gives me time to pay it off and wont hurt the pocket.

I just bought a mercury 3.5 from bass pro shops in Rancho, went back the next week and they had the mariner for 200.00 cheaper.
