well, after the successful YFC bite a couple days ago...
decided to take my brother-in-law Tony out for his first surf fishing sesh this am... was hoping to get him on some nice chunky YFCs too...
anyways, met up at the McD's in Malibu around 6:30am... went to the crab depot and made nice crabs again...
went back to the spot that was on fire a couple days ago... but sadly... didn't see any birds out on the water/diving at all :Crying: There were also several fellas fishing already... sorry if I didn't get your names...

pretty foggy, not as muggy/warm, hardly any wind, and the water was again pretty murky inside, but better on the outside... some patches of salad to maneuver around here and there, but definitely manageable. Although there were some lulls in the surge/waves that would produce, there was quite a big shore pound/surge up on to the beach that made it tough in between... especially for the newbie...
well, gave Tony some pointers again, and pin on a nice sandcrab, and off he goes....
not too much action where we started... no YFCs slamming the sandcrabs either... so headed downcoast... and finally found a spot that produced his first perch!

anyways, we stay in the spot and catch a few more perch... I tried to cast out far/close/in-between, but no love from the YFCs today (at least not for us)...
we start fishing the inside on a nice gravel bed, and Tony gets slammed... I hear his drag peeling... and he lands this slab!

well, the bite died down around 9:45ish I think... so start heading back and pick off a few more smalls/mediums... no YFCs this time out...

woah that was a great meal... the Fisherman's stew and corn bread sides were awesome... so were the hot plates of Albacore and steak with side salads/mash potatoes.... cleaned off our plates :LOL:
a great way to spend the am with the Mrs. and Tony...
