Apologies for the late posts. Went up to the eastern sierras late July with forum member jarheadbill and family. Camped at Diaz and fished Diaz (obviously), the Owens, Independence Creek, Taboose, Lone Pine. Lots of bass & bluegill biting at Diaz on silver Panther Martins, my daughter was even catching. Did awesome everywhere else on salmon eggs and that same silver panther martin. Got my personal best rainbow out of Independence creek east of the 395 with a nice 1.5-2lb bow. Thing was huge and had so much fight in him! Unfortunately no pics, but he did manage to break my lucky spinner. Seems that we left at just the right time as the last night we were there, it poured and nothing but muddy brown slush was flowing in the creeks we were fishing at before.

Well done on getting your daughter on her first fish and taking her along! She will remember this trip for the rest of her life. Keep these photos and videos and she will look back with great fondness.

Sadly, what I will remember in one of your photos is the trash that the folks before you left in the fire ring (for the maid to pick up) and the rolled up used diaper. I quit going to places like these along the 395 corridor as they have become trash heaps because of the slobs who don't care and the lack of budgets for County and Federal agencies to keep them looking like campgrounds. The part about leaving your camp better then you found it was lost on the people before you.

Thanks Viejo! No need to worry, my wife and I grabbed the trash from the couple of firepits on the north side of the campground and placed it where it needed to be: in the trash bins. Sadly, i'm not sure it made much of a difference as there was trash left over in all of them, and am sure after we left they'll be right back to where they were before.
