I was fishing at the balboa jetty and I kept catching these little guys.
They are around 8-10 inches. I kept catching one every half hour or so.
Never been to this spot and never caught a fish that looks like this before. Please help me id it.
Sorry for the bad picture quality.

Welcome to FNN. Those Lizard fish are a menace. Guys have caught big halibut on them.
Put a 2/0 hook in them and release them.

The smaller lizards work very well for the Calico's too! I've been using them every week with good success.

They seem to be everywhere now.... I've been catching them from LB all the way down to Balboa this year. I've never seen them in such huge numbers in past years. The bigger ones seemed to like small krocodile spoons. I took out a couple of youngsters and they had a blast catching the bigger models on the kroc.

Dang Lizards! I caught quite a few 2 days ago at the LAB. I've never seen so many 12" models in my life!

Oh and those things are also thick up in Morro Bay. They do make good bait.

I fished the pier at pismo a couple of weeks ago and they in there thick. Can't catch any thing else because they are on the bait as soon as it hit the water.

Lizard. Look at my report from last week. One of the shorts that I caught puked a lizard fish. Should fly line one and see what happens!
