My annual Excel trip. This was hosted by Ballast Point with lots of beer, spirits n mixers.
Day 1: left Fisherman's Landing with 33 passengers. Headed for the blufin grounds. On the second troll stop, picked up over 100 fat tuna 40 pounders. The last wave of tuna were 65+ pounders.
Day 2: started at Benitos for some yellowtail then drove offshore to get some yellowfin tuna and choppy seas.
Day 3: drove down the back side of Cedros but found only small yellows. Since the weather offshore getting snotty, went for a long drive to the Ridge.
Day 4: got to the Ridge at gray light. Found a huge school of 25+ pound yellows and loaned up on full limits in 2 hours . Captain Justin made us take two 10 minutes breaks to put the fish down in the RSW. Even got a chance go for an ocean dip at the Ridge. :Razz::Cool: Took off to Alijos to look for 'hoos.
Day 5: hooked up into some Wahoo on the troll, live bait n bombs but we landed only 20 or so. Lots of bite offs. Then a 2 day drive back to SD.
Great trip! Excellent crew! Fun group!
