Kaibab Lake
This past weekend (Sept. 15), I had the itch to get out of the house and take another road trip. So I packed up a few of the essentials and headed off too Prescott, Az to see my Pops. Its about a six hour drive to Prescott. I arrived about noon and immeadiately grabbed some food at a local Cocos. Inhaled in about 15 minutes!
Pops and I decided to take a drive up to the Williams, AZ area. There are about 5 small lakes in the vicinity to fish. Williams is off Highway 40; just south of the Grand Canyon.
Kaibab Lake is a small lake about the size of the Lagoon up at Castaic. It has Browns, Rainbows, Crappie, Catfish and very, small Bass. Its nestled in amongst the Pine trees at an elevation of 6,800 ft. Basalt rocks are everywhere, due to ancient lava flows that ran through this region.

Pops did the best he could when I was a kid to take me out fishing and camping. Its probably the main reason I enjoy it so much today with my own kids. Unfortunately he has his limitations, which restricts him from much of the shoreline access; but today we got a nice spot all to ourselves! :D Now its my turn to return the favor and do the best I can to enable him access to otherwise impossible "to-get-to" areas.
We have some action!

Since Pops has on his brand new Team 57 T-Shirt; I insisted that he "Lip" his Lunker like a Pro.

Our day ended up around 8:30 pm with a total fish count of seven between us. We were hoping the Kitties would come out to play, but it wasn't gonna happen this time. :( The record Cat for this lake is over 20 lbs.
Pops and I had a great time and we are looking forward to our next Adventure! I've been watching the reports from Willow Beach........Maybe a Pontoon Boat and a Striper hunt is around the corner. They've been landing 40 to 60 pounders out there!
We'll keep you posted! :thumb:
