Does anyone know if it is legal to use a net to catch a lobster off the pier? Also, is there size limit for lobster and are they all season?

You can hoop for crabs all year but you need to have a crab measuring tool.

Lobster, yes it is legal during the season. You must have a lobster card and a measuring tool. Your card must be filled out before you start and when you finish hooping.
2 devices only allowed.
2 nets and no poles in the water or 1 pole and 1 net or 2 poles.
Google DFG California lobster regulations and do your homework and it will save you from a fine.
