So i finally decided to hit a new AO this last weekend. There was PLENTY of kelp. Every cast i was bringing in salad. I drove

60 miles to get there and i wasnt leaving with a stripe on my back. I starting moving up and down the beach trying to find a

spot where i could keep my LC clean. Finally i hit a nice spot and ended up landing my first calico ever. I pulled my second

out shortly after.

Today i hit the Pendleton Marina around 4:30. I decided to dropshot using GULP smelt. I start the session with a small sand

bass. Im throwing out for another 20 minutes and i hit something solid. I bring it all the way in to the rocks and i lose the

fish... a roughly 16" hali and my second ever. Although I'm dissappointed i didnt land it, I am excited that i hooked a halibut

on a dropshot rig. Well, in my quest to be a jack of all trades, i tied on a bighammer jig. 3rd cast i land this baby. My first

ever...

:High Five: Great job Steve.
Be careful around those rocks with the pricey LCs.
Thanks for the report.

Hi ya sshaffr812,

WTG on your two new species and especially on the junior WSB!

This has been a topic on this site:
Please use minimal handling and extra care in releasing the WSB. I know that it's not an easy thing to do!
They have been known to swim away and die later after being handled. :My Two Cents:

Have fun!

Thanx for the Fish report with pic's.

I appreciate the advice Dan! I CPR'd that WSB in less than a minute. I got a perfect lip hook and im 100% sure that baby lived. In return for her safe return to the sea she said that she would come back to me after she grew another 20".

Nice looking fish Steve.
I wish you could have joined me on Tuesday, but the ocean will be here forever.
Take care of business!
