Just purchased and installed a NEW Elite 7 HDI.

Problem......it powers off, while outboard motoring, after 3-4 minutes. I can turn it back on and it will turn off again after 3-4 minutes. Frustrating!!!!

Appears to work fine and does not auto power off when outboard motor is OFF. Works fine while on the trailer in my garage too!!

It is wired to outboard motor cranking battery. This 12V batt supplies, FF, Radio, running lights, live wells, and gauges. TM is separate and is 24V.

Load tested and battery is good.

FYI...The transducer is mounted off my stern port pontoon (where previous FF/transducer was mounted). I have a 21' pontoon boat.

I don;t believe the unit is bad, as it works fine as long as outboard is not started. Any suggestions? Hoping something simple.... Before I have to disassemble and return this unit.

Also, is it best to run my FF off of the cranking battery? If not, where else? My cranking battery powers radio, FF, lights, and live wells.

Thanks for the assistance!

On the Bass Pro websight I was reading reviews on a bunch of finders. Not a lot, but a few of the contributors sighted this same problem. They ended up getting a replacement from Lowrance. Not sure if you have the same problem but thought it was worth mentioning.

Try hooking up to 1 of your 12v batteries on your 24v setup and see what happenes.
