This place has a TON of grass on the bottom. One small bite today. Did see a pretty big grass carp floating on its side ready to die. About a good 7-8 pounder.

When's a good time to fish this place mornings or evenings?

First thing is you need to live in the neighborhood and have a pass to fish. If not you will eventually meet a crabby lady that finds great pleasure in protecting her fish. The next best thing is to buddy up with somebody that belongs there and fish with them. As the summertime water temps rise so do the weeds in this lake. The water is green from all the algicide in the water but it still grows. Those grass carp munch on the weeds too but just end up dirtying the water. No matter though as the fish have no problem with this. So now you should research Drop shotting and Slip bobbers. Drop shotting originated here in California and puts the weight at the bottom and you offering up in the clear. Slip bobber technique originated back east for Walleyes and uses a knot on your line to stop your line at a precise depth, usually just above the weeds. With a little imagination I'm sure you can figure the rest out.

I was actually using a drop shot. Love that rig.

Japan brought us the drop shot to bass fishing. Definitely works great on clear so cal reservoirs though!
