Utah Fishing & Sightseeing

I took a vacation trip to Utah with the family visiting Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon. In between, I got the family to OK a day of fishing at a nearby lake (1.5 hours+ away :rolleyes:). We ended up only fishing for 6 hours due to the late start and thunderstorm.

My target for this trip was tiger trout and Bear Lake cutthroat. We ended up catching lots of cutthroat. a few rainbow, and no tiger. The tiger trout are very rare there. The dock help who has been fishing there with his family has only seen one caught within the last 5 years. We kept 7 (5 cutthroat and 2 rainbow) for dinner. The rest were let go or lost due to Rookie mistakes from the family members. Our biggest fish was 21 inches. The regulation there requires us to released any fish between 15 and 22 inches. I didn't take much fishing pics since I was playing guide and had to tie and retie 4 other set up back-to-back.

Enjoy the Iphone pics and extra. They would be a lot better if I use the right camera and had the right lighting but we had thunderstorm for all the days that we were there.

The walk way to Bright Angel Point at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It's really stupid to take that route during a thunderstorm when the ground is slippery with drops on both side, but if you can make it there and back then you'll have a memory that you won't soon forget. :cool:

That looks like Panguich Lake, next time you are in that area I suggest you also try Yankee Meadow Reservoir, Navajo Lake, Aspin Mirror Lake, Duck Creek and the Sevier River. Take a butterfly net and catch the grasshoppers that are abundant and you will “KILL UM” next time.

You are correct on your guess. I probably won't be back till a year or two from now but I will definitely hit some of your recommended spots.
