SUMMARY OF EVENTS:
The family wanted to go to the beach today, so I grabbed my poles and suggested Malibu Pier. My wife and 3-year old went to the beach while my two 7-year olds asked to fish with me. We dropped poles and had lots of bites, but no hookups. Eventually we caught a few fish... enough to keep the kids interested. We didn't stay terribly long, but it's because my 3-year old is really busy and mama was tired.

THE RESULTS:
Malibu Pier is a new location for me... only been here 2 times before, but it seems promising. I like most of the attributes of this pier, but don't really care for having to pay between $10-14 to park each time. It can get expensive.

SUMMARY OF EVENTS:
After having so much fun yesterday at Malibu Pier, I decided to go back. This time my oldest daughter asked to come. I gave her my old saltwater pole and bought a new one and headed back down to Malibu. Since it was a Monday, the pier was pretty mellow. My daughter and I hooked up a good variety of fish and I caught my first CA Thornback since I was about 14.

THE RESULTS:
Super stoked I caught another Thornback and the fact that we caught twice as many fish as the day before, with less poles in the water was encouraging. I'll definitely be back!

Not bad catchin for that pier, at that time.

6.am the gates open,but nowadays, you have to get there 5-6am even to get a space on the street

for free, and that is on the week days !!! Unless you park north of the pier, somewhere around the first access gate.

Used to be some live bait catching on the right side ,by right turn before the bathrooms where the pier turns, if you have

a Sabiki rig or something like that !

nice report. i used to fish that pie quite a pit around the early 80's. I have had a quite a few legal halibut come off the end of the pier. usually the right corner. throwing whole dead anchovies on a carolina rig, and bouncing it back in.

Nice mix bag & way to put the chill-dren on the fish .....street parking free if you get there before the surfers .....you gonna have to get up real early

Nice going you guys nailed em ,i used to fish that pier ,it closed at five,at 4:30 we would start catching shorts ,we always thought if we could stay a little later????nice ,the kids looked happy
