Decided to go on a camping trip with my uncle who had introduced me into fishing and to this FNN website, he told me would be trying to catch some trout which excited me because I loved catching trout the day of the Farm Fest where I learned how to fish and met many fellow anglers part of this website. Well back to the trip we headed out to mammoth lakes driving over 6 hours to get there as we arrived I felt tired and sluggish but not tired enough to go fishing as my family was taking pictures I decided to take out my new rod and reel and caught my first sierra trout on my first cast what a rush it was especially as I was reeling it in I happened to see a bear!! what a way to start the trip off the fish was a nice size I would say 3 pounds maybe less but I like saying 3 pounds. During the trip I caught 4 of those fish which everyone called alpers or something I wasn't sure since im still new to fishing. But during my stay I went to lake George, twin lakes, lake mary and convict lake. All my bigger fish were caught at lake Geroge, I did catch some nice browns at lake mary and a beautiful brook at twins lake. My overall experience was great I cant wait to get back there and fish. Especially since on the last day we made some tasty fish tacos which were great because the meat was pink and delicious. I recommend going fishing to these lakes if you haven't ive uploaded some pictures but have tons more.

You already have Photobucket. Upload your photos to Photobucket. In a new tab, open a new thread on the forum or hit reply like I did. Switch back to Photobucket and select the photo you want to paste. Click on it and it will expand. To the right are a series of links to share that photo. Use the one that says, "IMG" Copy the link. Switch back to FNN and paste it in your thread. It will look like this after you paste it into your posting: http://i1334.photobucket.com/albums/w643/troutkillaa/CIMG5746_zps870f821e.jpg (http://s1334.photobucket.com/user/troutkillaa/media/CIMG5746_zps870f821e.jpg.html)

It's great to see and read about someone having their first experience in the Sierras. Many people on FNN have had that same feeling whether it was 30-40 yrs ago or just the past yr or two.

The sierras are special place that many hold close to them. Please make sure you treat as such too. Always pick up your trash and even pick up others trash because they are typically the a-holes that don't give a crap and the world would be a better place without them to begin with.

And also, release the brownies - especially ones smaller than 6" like the one you're holding in front of your face.

It really was a great experience and cant wait to get back up, i did make sure to clean up and even pick up the trash i.saw on the shorline as i walked i do understand we dont have many beautiful places to visit so i also want to keep it clean so that people can continue to enjoy what i did, i relased all fish caught including the browns and brookies i caught including the one in the photo i just grabbed a quick photo and sent him on his way i did keep about 4 trout that were alpers and a nice big size and a smaller one that died when relasing it so i took him for some tacos, thankypu for advacating the trash clean up because i saw several people not care about the place and took thier experience for granted

Good to hear on the brownie release and litter removal...I'm happy to know that there is yet hope with future fisherman.

Kepp all the rainbows you want, just don't exceed the daily limit or possession limit because that's a hefty fine.

Hey Big

Do you think that brownie has a chance ... since it's bleeding?

Well it was a clean lip hook and was little blood most of it was from my hand from getting pricked by hook on my finger but when he was released he seemed to go off just fine and as far as my limit i only kept 2 fish per day anf an overall of 6 during my 3 day trip i do hope the little guy made it
