Hey folks,

I live in Burbank and looking for a lake that holds a decent crappie population. That's the one fish I've never had the joy of catching out of all the common ones in SoCal. I know Piru is a good place for it, but I'm not a big fan of that place. Suggestions to parks and pay lakes are welcome. I'd like to keep my drive to an hour if possible.

Thanks!

Looks like no one wants to divulge their "secret" crappie spots, LOL! I used to love fishing Piru for crappies when I lived that way. Great fishing there. Best lures were green and white crappie jigs. 1/32nd oz. I must say that I have some good spots east of your location, but sadly...I cannot divulge a lot of them either. I will tell you one good lake though. Lake Elsinore. No lie. Big slabs too. You're a little late in the season, though. Maybe in the fall. And if you can get onto Vail Lake, they have good numbers as well. Monsters too.
