7/4 Pursuit

Fishing July 4th, 2013 out of 22nd Street on the Pursuit, I landed this beautiful 17.4# yellowtail on a Performance tackle custom wrapped Phenix PSX-1009 paired with a Trinidad 20 on the mint/white jig!

Hooked a 40-50# class mako, that ate the same jig, and bit me off after the 2nd jump. Wished my gopro wasnt dead..

They're out there. 2 yellows on the jig landed, 10+ landed on squid.

I was on the boat the day before and we only got 3 small yellows. The ocean got cold in 1 night. Day before they got 56 yellows and day before that 30 something. So amazing how in 1 day the water can change so much. I did manage to catch about 30 Calicos though and a few cudas. Nice catch though I'm still trying to hook my first yellow. I've been on that boat 2 times already this month awesome crew.

Im not going to lie, I got my *** handed to me. First yellow since 2006 (took a break from fishing to pursue paintball and then finish school) and I will admit I put the rod on the rail a couple times.

hooked? i forgot.. Whatever the boat landed, we lost about 5-6 due to random stuff..

I was going to ask you the same question about Irvine Lake. I know you and your float tube are deadly. I'm hoping the DFG get's their act together soon and starts planting the Regional Parks again. In the mean time I'll be headed to Guasti about once a week, Carp fishing on the Weekends and Bass fishing at Barrett Lake. I swear in my old age, Saltwater fishing just doesn't have the big appeal like it did when I was young like you. lol

Irvine? its tough with all the weeds. Fished the tournament last weekend. Lost a decent size fish in the weeds and that was it for me. Carp fishing at LM regional?

LOL all my sticks are 9' or larger. Im about to wrap my first ever 7'6" stick for yo yo. Hopefully that wont hurt as much
