Haven't been hitting the surf much lately, most of my fishing has been in San Diego bay off the rocks targeting halibut and Corvina. I have exclusively fishing the SPRO BBZ-1 jr 6 inch swimbait. Hit the rocks Wednesday morning for one 23 inch butt on the swimbait. Had a hug blowup on the surface followed by a hookup and then slack line a minute later. Nothing worse than farming a big Corvina:Sad:

Took my son out later in the day to an area close by the morning AO. I wore the skunk but my son caught his first Corvina on his Flashminnow 110 Candy Sardine. He was stoked.

On the morning of the 4th I hit pretty much the same spot I hit the previous morning. Lots of bait fish and fish boiling on them. I knew the right kind were out and about, could see their dorsal fins breaking the surface while chasing bait. Made a few casts here and there and then my bait got crushed. Flashes of silver followed by surface thrashing made it obvious that Mr. Corvina had been hooked. Not a large one but about 20 inches. They hit the big bait HARD!!
