Myself, my son, and my buddy went out to Irvine the other night in search of cats on my rig. It was fairly slow and we fell just short of catching our limits (Did get a limit of bass though! =), but my son has the strangest catch. He casts his chunk of mackerel and says he feels something he reels it up and says "Daddy what's that?" I look closer and there's a tiny furry thing tangled in his line. I look closer and see that it's a bat!!:EyePop: It took me a few minutes but I was finally able to untangle it and let it go. It looks like it went after the line and got its wings wrapped around it. It was unharmed.

My son definitely won the "interesting catch of the night award"!

That is unique! I've never seen a bat there before and to catch one is pretty cool.

Wow :EyePop::EyePop:, I can honestly say I've never seen that before. But there are tons of bats out at the lake so I'm not shocked either.

Wow that's a rare catch for sure but a great story to have to tell :)

I'm sure it must've hit the bait mid-flight. It's "sonar" probably fooled it into thinking it was an insect flying around. I hope you did not touch that with bare hands, especially if you have any open wounds as bats carry the rabies virus...

Hope you were careful untangling it. Bats are the most common carrier of rabies in the OC. If it bit you at all please contact the health department and get treated.
