Been haunted by dreams of getting my first legal white seabass so a buddy of mine and I decided to hop on board the seabiscuit for a full day trip during these nice full moon tide swings. Eagerly awaited our departure date and was stoked they got 16 for 14 anglers the day before. Tired from a trip the day before this it was nice to be able to take advantage of their bunks. We headed to Santa Cruz island and were fishing by 730. Nothing going for the first few hours except a few rays. We made a short move and set up shop in a general area to lick at some rockfish sheepheads for a good remainder of the day. I set up a double dropper loop and send it out. A few cast later and only a couple rockfish being caught I hook something on a strip of squid off the bow. But I instantly realized its no rockfish. Nice heavy thumps from the fish and a few solid runs on 40lb string and a trip down the rail + a slight glitch of my antireverse on my reel I got the fish up and down. A few pumps later and the captain sticks my pb yellowtail that tapped out right at 25lbs on the scale. The boats pumped and we all start fishing hard.
Soon after that they started biting chovies pinned on with a small slider. I get picked up shortly after and boat another tail. My friend was feeling the pressure and put one on the boat a bit after my second one. We each miss a few more bites and before you know it were off to try for seabass again. Spent the last hour there for a few critter fish and head for home. The boat ended the day with six yellows, rockfish, and some nice sheep heads.

Nicely done! Those sashimi pieces look good. Did you filet the fish and prep. it yourself?

I've been wanting to try out CISCO landing for awhile now but it's just too damn far. San Diego would be half an hour closer to me.
