Outside dana point harbor small sharks

Took my Brother in law from Chicago out Saturday to catch bass in the Dana Point Kelp. Although we did catch bass we also caught 4 sharks over 40- 50 inches. Seems like they were just around us where ever we fished. First we lost several hook ups with cut off hooks. Changed to steel leader and in came the sharks. 3 Spiny Dogface and 1 Leopard.


Is the Shark meat on these species good eating? If you have tried it -- how did you prepare the meat?
We heard of one fisherman preparing the Dogface shark meat breaded and deep fried like we do with cod. . '
