Hit Newport landing with skansand for a twilight. We were short a few people but everyone agreed to pitch in extra $$$ to go out. We made a short 40min run to the spot and it was was stop shopping. Boat had easy limits plus I realesed a number of bass. Live squid on a lead head + a slider was all you needed. Light loads and a fun crew made for a great trip aboard the nautilus. Also got to break in a new to me setup that worked great and felt like butter.

Fun Outing! Thanks for the report & pictures, GREAT. How deep were the fish and what weight jigs were you using with the squid?

About 60ft. somewhere off the pipe, with the sandbass special aka 1 1/2 to 2oz leadheads plus a 1 oz slider. They seemed to like the squid to be pumped or feathered back to the boat.

I use and make banana jigs with glow white powder coated paint for hanging squid on. I have caught a lot of fish fishing these jigs. When I am out there fishing I have 3/4 oz. up to 3 oz. jigs so I can contend with the water currant. Thanks for answering my questions and I look forward to getting back out there. I sure would like to catch another nice sized WSB this year.

I dig the "bass thumb"! There's only one way to get that, lotsa action!
