BTW, how does one land a 12" spottie on 4lb? I was shooting 6lb spectra and 4lb fluoro and the damn spottie rocked me!

A beautiful saltwater aquarium fish! You don't see many little ones like that. Baby Barred Sandbass yes, but for some reason, you don't see very many baby Spotted Sand Bass..

6 lb is my line of choice for the harbor. I can get away with 4 lb, too, but because I cant horse a fish with 4 lb, I only use it in open areas away from pilings or rocks.

6lb eh? Before this little guy, I actually hooked into a 13" spottie on 4lb fluoro and then he rocked me! The dang thing then swam out of the rock and followed another one that was probably in the 15" class. It was quite the sight to see even though I had lost a good spottie.

Any particular reason for the light line? If you want to do it regularly you wanna avoid the rocks and target eel grass areas where they have less of a chance to get dug in

I usually sport lighter line for better lure presentation. But, on this particular day I was just targeting small fish and it just so happened that the big spot decided to bite. Good stuff though.
