"What, me worry?"

LOS ANGELES — When Maria Melendez emerged from Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., just before midnight last Tuesday, she said, she heard screams that have kept her awake at night for an entire week.

A half-dozen Kern County sheriff’s deputies were across the street beating a man with clubs and kicking him, she said. So she whipped out her mobile phone and began to video the episode, announcing to the officers what she was doing.

For about eight minutes, Ms. Melendez said, the man screamed and cried for help. Then he went silent, she said, making only choking sounds.

Finally, having hogtied him, a number of witnesses said, two officers picked up the man and dropped him, twice. One deputy nudged the man with his foot. When he did not respond, they began CPR.

It gets better...

BAKERSFIELD — The FBI launched an investigation Tuesday into the death of a man who was beaten by authorities amid questions over whether officials tampered with cellphone videos confiscated from witnesses.

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood said he asked the FBI to get involved after learning that one of two phones seized from witnesses had no footage on it.

Two witnesses told The Times that they watched the videos on each of the phones last week in the wake of David Silva’s death. The case is generating widespread attention because several witnesses have come forward to say deputies ruthlessly beat Silva with batons on the head, even after he was motionless on the ground.

“Our credibility is at stake here,” Youngblood said in an interview. He did not dispute the witnesses’ accounts about the videos but said he would not draw any conclusions until the investigations were complete.

RIP, David Sal Silva

This video is misleading.

The police was called to the house for a reason. They have to investigate.while this video is troubling, its not the complete story.

I give example of the pervert in Cleveland abducting the girls. Police were at the house numerous tines and are cat thing heat for not entering g the home.

So which is it? Enter the home in Cleveland but not here in this video?.

It was clear the police were coming in. That couple did themselves no favors.

Regarding the original subject of the thread.

The lawyer of the witnesses claim that when the sheriffs dept. Confiscated the cell phones of witnesses and subsequently deleted videos and evidence claiming abuse..if intact that happened. Heads should roll and numerous jail time for all involved.

That's S.S. shi nit right there. Just as the IRS targeting conservatives for their beliefs

That's true. The dude could have priors or a history. Cops can enter anytime if someone is in danger. The lesson is don't touch a cop.
Even the David Silva beating we don't know the whole story.
They went too far with Silva, but often times many guys need a good asskicking.

Six+ trained officers can subdue and cuff a single suspect without beating him with their batons for 10 minutes. Especially since the advent of the Taser. The whole story still remains to be told, but there was an obvious misuse of force here. If not, these deputies are probably in the wrong line of work.

That cop looking through the window, as with the bald one in the background, look like they have one of those new personal video cameras (attached to glasses) that some cities are beginning to use. I hope more PD's start making this policy. They certainly are losing the publics trust, with Kelly Thomas having been beat to death by Fullerton PD, the kid in Long Beach shot dead for playing with a garden hose nozzle, and now this...
