rewind a couple days ago, so im fishing this spot and I keep catching dinks I mean super dinks

so for the last couple days iv been telling my nephew I need to get back to that spot and he tells me why do you want those dinks. I tell hi its not those dinks I want its what eats those dinks.

so I get to my spot at 2:50am and at 3 am I hook up and right away I no its not a dink this one is ripping drag.
turns out to be 9.1#
2 casts later I hook another nice fish pulls drag then shakes loose...

so I move on to another spot and get a couple more better grade fish after the sun comes up

all hell breaks loose, 20 min fight, no net, and about 50 yards from were I hook up I finally land her

Still curious about the red sores. I have caught a lot of stripers in my time but have not seen one with a disease like that. Anyone have any ideas? What did the meat look like in those areas?

I'm still curious why you have an x marks the spot avatar potentially leading innocent to an illegal spot to fish?

The canal is only 6-8 feet deep. Maybe got them from feeding along the bottom who knows. Meat was all fine

No that's one of those red dot striper sores! I wasn't sending anyone anywhere.

With all of the stripers you have caught in your time,

Why don't you post any reports ?

Delta mendota stripers with sores?

Been biting my tongue too long.

Delta mendota is in Fresno area

Fresno area = crystal meth

Sores = crank sores.

Stripers on meth like the fresnecks

I don't post reports and I also don't ask for advice or leech. Fair enough? I do give advice freely though.

To dk4885. Hopefully you don't see it progress to this. Some times the east coast stripers develop these lesions.

Supposed to be fine to eat once cooked but handling it with open cut on you is what's dangerous. Don't even know if this is the case with these Mendota fish but like I said, I have caught a lot of stripers and this is the first I have seen with the sores on them. That got me searching and the east coast bacteria infected stripers showing similar sores came up. Others on this thread can mess around and be you know whats but I was just intrigued by what I saw as it is a first for me. At the least it got a conversation going and hopefully it's nothing to be concerned about but better to be safe than sorry. Just tryin to help and not asking for anything in return.

DK, keep the thread updated if you catch any fish with sores out of the California aqueduct and even if more with sores keep coming from the Mendota canal. Might consider having a lab test the fish? Maybe DFW can have it tested?
