I got to spend the weekend in shaver Lake. This place is really nice. If you didnt know they drained the lake in 2011. They seem to have things getting back to normal. Had a great 2 day trip. Fish were bitting.

I spent the first part of the morning playing with little guys. 14" was my biggest. Than later i tried a new spot right by the marina. This paid off. I first landed a 2 or 3lber than landed a 4 lb, 22" fish.

These were my two biggest of the day.

Second day i met a colleague of mine who hadn't fished since 2005. My goal was to get him some fish wether i got any or not. I worked the day searching on where the fish were. We struggled for the first few hours. Than we went right back to the spot I caught the two big ones.

He was able to catch his first fish. A nice 2lber.

Then he caught this funky looking trout. We released it.

Good times up there if you get a chance to wonder up there.

Thanks for the great report and pics! Those are some beauties you caught. I've always wanted to head up there and troll Shaver, just waiting for some news on the Koke bite.

I hear that the koke need another year or so before they are a decent size. It looks like the rainbows are a good size now.

Shaver was stocked with a lot of DD trout after the drain. The fish that went in was not your typical dfw fingerlings. I have seen stringers with 2-3 DD's on it multiple times. Almost like a good day at SARL. Best days to fish are weekdays when there is low boat traffic. And yes, the marina is a good spot to fish.

I also forgot to mention i saw a couple of small mouths on beds. I'm glad some of those guys survived.
