So my girlfriend has been asking me to make Halibut fish tacos for her family. Usually I eat it all before I can share any. Well her father will be having a major surgery this week and all her family are getting together on Wednesday & Thursday at my house. She wants me to make fish tacos for them so she sent me on a mission to go fishing and catch a legal Halibut. I felt a bit of pressure to deliver since she already promised them halibut fish tacos. Well Sunday didn't start off too well I was suppose to wake up at 4:30am and ending up waking up at 8am  So the plan is to now fish the afternoon. Arrived at 3:30pm but couldn't fish until 4:15 because there were way to many beach go'ers and swimmers. When I spot opened up it didn't take long to hookup. I managed a 18'' butt reeaally close to shore on a crowded beach. Surf got rough and kelp starting coming. I packed it up and moved to another beach a couple of miles away.
Conditions were great here with very little beach go'ers. Second cast I get a hit but I wasn't pay attention so my hookset was delayed ending with nothing  For the next hour the only action I get was a 12'' YFC and you can't feed a family that fish. Fog started moving in during the evening, surf was getting a bit harsh, temps got cold, and now I was feeling like I was going home empty handed. I began power fishing towards my starting point when I get slammed, I feel heavy weight and then nothing, line goes limp  I checked the hooks on my LC 130MR and they were sharp. Fished the same spot hard for the next 5 minutes and then BAM! Solid hit and I responded with a powerful hookset and I knew that I had him hooked. I didn't realize standing behind me was a amateur photographer taking photos of the action. I was able to beach the butt quickly and it measured out at 27'' :Big Smile: Fish tacos this week! Fished for about 15 more minutes and went home happy now that I got what I came for.

Hi ya Anthony,

I really enjoyed your picture where your legal Hali had so much fight left in him that he leaped himself right off of the sand! What a beautiful fish!

Thanx Brotha for the fun read with pic's!
