Today was the Grand Finale in our Trout Season Tournament Series the Masters Trout Championship. This was the big tournament that everyone was trying to qualify for throught the year by fishing in our qualfying tournaments. Up for grabs to the winner was a One Year unlimited pass to Irvine Lake, A Diawa Reel, Two Seeker Trout Rods, a Seeker blanket, Custom bottle of Bite On Garlic, the Masters Jacket, and $1,000 of Irvine Lake's money.

The night before the Masters we held the Masters dinner and the mini Masters Tournament in the kids lagoon. It was an all around good time and it seemed that the contestants really enjoyed the festivities.

1.Chris Baldrige 3.45
2.Mario Garcielta 2.65
3.Eric Appelian 2.45

Everyone went home or to their campsites in anticipation of tomorrows tournament. All the contestants knew what was up for grabs. A lot of contestants talked about their game plans and about what they had figured out in pre fishing or previous tournaments. The morning came and all the contestants headed off to their favorite spots in search of the fish that would make them the 2013 Master's Champion.

Fish poured in from all over the lake as guys and gals in the Masters Championship found the fish to be more than willing to bite! Some guys reported that the bait bite was on fire, while others reported the mini jig and trout worm bite to be insane, the trollers also did very well as the clear water made their forte even more productive. But the question in everybodys head was "How big of a fish would it take to win the 213 Masters Championship?!?!!"

Congratulations on a nice fish to win the contest, Rick! If they aren't biting 'crawlers, they're not biting, right? And congratulations to all who qualified and competed.
First thing I thought of this morning was "Daniella got a great day for the Masters!" No wind, no rain, no heat. Sweet!

Guys - thank you so much for all of your kind words, support and sportsmanship! I want to also congratulate each of the other 60 contestants for your accomplishment of qualifying and competing in the Masters - this is no easy task. For many of us, it has taken hundreds of hours on the water over the years to earn an spot and compete in this coveted tournament. This season I learned an important lesson that I want to share - to become a more versatile angler by keeping a more open mind and trying new fishing methods. Unlike the prior 2 seasons, qualifying this year was really challenging for me. I received the 60th (and last) qualfying spot for the Masters in the Berkley Cup with a 12th place finish because I was willing to step out of my comfort zone and try a new fishing strategy (other than trolling). I took a risk and did the same in the Masters. My goal for next season is to learn how to float tube.

I also want to give a shot out to my teammate in the Masters, Edgar who quickly (and calmly) cleared the lines when they crossed and netted the fish on the first try... thanks bro!

Most importantly, on behalf of all the anglers this season, a huge THANK YOU to Daniela and the entire Irvine Lake staff, Pro-staff, Sponsors and volunteers for everything you did this season to make fishing at Irvine Lake and the Masters event such a quality, fun and memorable experience for all of us!

See you guys on the water next season. All the very best and blessings!

Was a fun tournament.. Congrats to the winner Rick and runner up Rooooooooster. Cant wait for next year!

Rick - once you float tube.. you'll be able to learn more stealthy techniques and its awesome. ONLY downside to float tubing... when the wind picks up at the vine.. it sucks to kick back lol

Just remember when tubing to have fun.

Congrats again to the win and to the other competitors.. it was a trough day for me and my partner.. We didn't / couldn't set the hook on the 50+ bites we got since we were surrounded by rats.. lol

Video and report to come.
