S.W.A.T. 3 Sessions in a Row and Personal Best! (Pic Heavy)

Sandy and I planned to fish the surf at a spot I've been having lots of luck. We met up and drove our way down there and met my S.W.A.T. brother Ken. He was new to fishing this location and so was Sandy. The tide was peak low tide and rising slowly when we got there. We all were using the LC FM110. I was using the lucky-fishing-mojo-SWAT-induction-package Lucky Craft... There was only one part of this beach that I know that produces at this tide and went straight to it.:Fishing Hole:

The weather was overcast and temperature was around 57 and same water temperature. There was an abundance of kelp on the shore and in the water. I brought them to my favorite fishing hole and it was filled with kelp. We all tried to fish it and came back with kelp about 9 out of 10 times. I moved on to a different spot but there was still kelp everywhere. :Angry: I moved back to my favorite hole and I snagged some kelp on the top of the water. Right when I was going to jerk/rip it to get the kelp off, a halibut comes flying up to the top and hits it! :EyePop: It was like I was fishing a top-water plug and seeing the halibut slam the lure was stunning. The halibut ends up being around 15 inches.

We were all excited and started to fish harder.:High Five: The kelp seemed to get worse and worse but I managed to get some clean casts in. This was like playing the game Frogger on the most difficult level.:Evil: Sandy finally gets a hook up and then it pops off right in front of us and I saw the fish flip its fin at us. I was talking to Ken and told him I wanted to keep fishing this hole because I had a feeling there was still fish in here. He needed to use the restroom and left and I started to cast more . After a bunch of casts, I finally get a good hit and knew this fish was going to be huge. It didn't make any big drag runs and I yell to Sandy that I have one. I knew this fish was no match for my baitcaster combo and brought it for that reason, in case there was a big one. Ken comes running over and I finally get the fish onto the sand and it was huge!:Bug Eyes:

Sorry Ken, I stole your induction fish. :Sad: This was my personal best in the surf and was released. My 7th legal halibut in the surf for the year and 12th overall :Big Grin:. We tried fishing some more and Sandy ends up catching a baby leopard shark on the LC Pointer 100.
