So I there are times I want to venture to Irvine on my own, and know renting a boat OS the best odds of catching rather than shore fishing. I'm sure I can learn the controls, however those anchors/cement blocks weigh a ton for me to bring up. Any suggestions?

well you wont need anchors/blocks because you will be trolling.you need leadcore rods right now because trout are down 25 to 35 ft.

There's been a better bait bite than troll bite as of late, which pains me to say as I am a 99% of the time troller. If the wind is calm, there's always drifting, just use a slightly heavier weight on your C rig and you just may happen to drift over a hot spot, which you can re position and drift over again and again. The water's super clear, 3 ft leaders are working right now.

40154yeah I got a 7lb 5,4,4 3 before 10am.after years of shore fishing.i will never do anything but troll.
