9-10 inches caught on a grey/black reverse hackle patter that I tied on a #12 barbless, dry hook. A great way to improve a hike in the mountains.

nice dark colors on those fish ... I still have not moved up to a #12 .... been tying same patterns with good results at LC and SA SAN GABRIEL MTNS.

Yeah, they were very, very dark in person. What size do you usually fish? I've gone as small as a #16. Oddly enough, I find better luck with smaller flies in fast-moving water or dropping behind boulders / underneath falls. However, in general, I've had better results with the slightly larger 12s.

Nice catch! Love to see those little fish take a strike on a dry fly. Tankera rocks! When I hear people make statements like 'Tenkara is a fad', all I want to say is:"it's a Tenkara thing, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!"....

You got it, I don't understand!

But catching beautiful little fish on a fly I do, nice outing.

How can you understand this method of fishing if you never experienced it in person? ...lol..
