Still pretty slow at the river. Water was high all weekend, but the wind was not helping! Got about 12 in three days which is better than my Feb outing. Pics of the larger ones but nothing really that big as you can see. Maybe the summer heat will bring the bite back.

Fished curly tail grub on 1/4 oz road runner spinner jig head, zoom fluke on a 1/4 oz Buckeye Lures Su-Spin, and my square bill crank bait. Missed more than I caught on a texas rigged senko. They just wouldn't commit unless you landed on their head...

Farmed a beautiful jet black (3+ pound) SMB that was the shape of a football. Jumped three times and won on the last about 7 feet from the boat... Oh well.

Some pics.

Our house is about 30 minutes north of Blythe. No striper on our run of the river unfortunately. Just about everything else though.

What resort? I fish that area a few times a year. Good largemouth in that area. Never caught any great smallmouth there, a lot of them, just not great size. Most of the good small mouth I have caught are in the parker strip or havasu.

This was havasu a few weeks ago.

I catch a lot of good smallmouth and large mouth using poppers down there.

Been going to Blythe for many years plenty of striper there.
This one was right off the boat up river from Mayflower.

I've caught 1 striper in 15 years on our stretch. They aren't there. I have a house in between Water Wheel and Aha Quinn. You can check out my previous posts here. Probably 20 over the last few years (been here since 2004)... but I have never got a smally over 3.5 on our stretch, nor a LMB over that size either. Chompot's fish above would be a sweet catch on our stretch!!

We used to catch 20 to 40 SMB a day but most about a pound, but not in the last few years... HUGE cats and carp still around though...

Here is a typical sumer weekend. I don't take pics of the small ones obviously...

Hawk, do you target the big cats at all. Is your section above the Palo Verde Diversion Dam. Thanks

Try chicken livers right below the dam, the girlfriend always pulls cats and some striper there. Not right in the chop from the water release but were it starts to calm.

Hawk,

Have you ever fished Goose Flats? Or the other back waters on the AZ side? I have pulled some big large mouth from there. I have been bow fishing in those waters and seen some bass that are 5+ pound range. I'd imagine since you have been in that area for 15 year you would know about these locations if not check them out some of the best bass fishing I have done. Good enough to get me and my friends to drive the 3 and a half hours to fish. Ill be there this up coming weekend.

LMB bigger than 3.5 lbs are definitely there. This fish is spawned out and still over 4. Sorry bad pic, but this was caught close to water wheel.

I am right below Water Wheel. JJT, I have probably fished Goose Flats but might not know it by name? Any chance you can show me on a map or give GPS? Chompot, yes, LMB's over 3.5 for sure, just haven't gotten a SMB over that size... Yet!

I know exactly where you got that fish. We saw some big LMB's spawning right there this spring. I always get bit across from there in the laydowns.

We have seen Cat's as big as 20 pounds but haven't gotten one that big yet. Carp up to 40. Biggest carp I got was 13 pounds. There is a video I posted on these threads somewhere...
