I haven't posted a report for a while, but I thought I would let people know how great the fishing at Vail lake is right now... It would be a good time to hit up Art Hill for a trip, you wont be disappointed.

The pics shown here are from two different trips: one with my daughter, Megan, on 3/25, and a two day camping trip I took by myself 4/2 and 4/3. The fish are on the chew and hitting just about anything, but dropshot was working exceptionally well for us. The water temp was 65 degrees out left of the Dam and there were many birds (and fish) dining on shad --a lot of shad in the water. Megan and I put together a 50 fish day (between the two of us) on 3/25 and the April trip was even better. I'm telling you, call Art and get out there!

Enjoy the pics:

Joe is absolutely correct. If you can get a day with Art it will be the trip of a lifetime.
I have friends that are members there and they went the week before last and left the lake with 77 bass by 1PM and one of the 3 was a 5 year old with a Star Wars rod that caught about 10-12 by himself.
It is going off!

Joe and Brent, you are both correct, as Vail is absolutely on fire. Most days the fish counts are 100 fish or better. We had an honest fish count of over 800 bass for this last week of fishing, ending yesterday,(7 trips). I am very happy that you guys had great days out there. Megan always looks so happy holding her fish. She has grown up way to quick Joe. I remember her as an 11 year old hauling bass one after the other over the side of my boat.

I sort of miss having our membership there, usually fun when the wake boarders were behaving. We would probably have renewed it if they allowed tent camping at the lake. I caught my biggest bass there, it was fun!

We miss seeing you out there Beth, but I hear what you are saying: we may not renew this year... some crazy sh** happening & I hear the management is bankrupt and don't give much of a sh** about anything. I'll just call Art when I want to fish Vail in the future.

my Best,
Joe and Megan
