View Full Version : Seeking recommendations for the Laguna Beach Area

Let me preface this request first by stating that I'm not asking for anyone's AO's. Traveled down from Bakersfield to Aliso Viejo today and at the last minute, decided to throw a spinning rod & reel and my surf fishing gear into the car in case I can sneak out in the early morning for a Perch surf trip while here. I'd like to fish in the Laguna Beach area as I won't have much time and that's the closest area to where we are staying. I've looked at Google Earth, and while I see lots of good looking areas, I can't tell what type of access there is and I'm looking for places where parking isn't going to be too difficult. I was hoping to do some recon after eating at Mutt Lynches this afternoon, but we didn't have time to drive up PCH as we needed to pick up our granddaughter from pre-school.

Appreciate any advise or info anyone is willing to provide.

Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure but I think Laguna Beach is off limits now.

Yep, Laguna Beach is in the MPA zone.

If you're looking for perch, might have to head up a bit north towards Newport beach and anything between there and Sunset Beach. If you want to head south a bit, I know there's perch fishing around San Clemente.

Well, that is good information to know. Don't need a ticket!

Thanks.
