Believe in yourself, and the rest will fall into place. Have faith in your own abilities, work hard, and there is nothing you cannot accomplish....Brad Henry

I have faith, work hard, and work smart.... So, they say, the second time around is much easier. Sold the fully restored Valco with the PITA pull the string engine, bought the same sized boat in length (Western is 8 inches wider)- with a 4 stroke, 15 hp, push button engine... HEAVEN!

So, let the build begin!!! Refirbin' the Western.

Day one: went to Ganahal- got lumber and had a hitch hiker on my wood! Was a cute little guy... Hit Home Depot to get some prices, ideas, and sizes of screws. Next, I hit Harbor Freight- picked up some odds and ends: paint brushes, wire brushes, hinges, etc... Went home and thought he whole thing out.

Day two: SSSSSLLLOOOOWWWW to start. Honestly, going to get the screws and hardware is very stressful for me. I'm the kind-of person who wants to have everything together before I start; sort of smart, because you have to drill the holes the right size- right and I learned the hard way, size matters (no pun intended).

Finished up all of the gathering; now let's get busy!

More to come...

Way to go, you are over the learning curve after the first one. I might add that you probably found after building the first one a number of things you would do differently. I am looking forward to seeing your progress. On a side note I am having pulled pork from the smoker tonight.

Good job and good luck Karyn!!

Pffft! God knows I know how much hard work that is.

Looking forward to see your progress. Keep us posted. And have fun building your fish killing machine! :)

Just remember, no matter how clean you make it, your only prepping it with the will to get it dirty.

The main issue for me was the paint. It is this sandy paint and its flaking off, then it gets on my skin and I start itching- so I have to do something... I have dogs- yep, they come with claws- so I KNOW it will get scratched- it's all good. Just keepin it simple- functional, and safe. On the serious note- I want to be able to tow it, put it in the water, fish, and take it out and tow it home independently- so- yeah, it's going to be REAL simple. No frills... I can't wait to get it all cleaned up, then dirty again with fish scales! So much fun!

I just said good bye to my manicure...

Life is good when you don't have to pay for the rental boats propeller!

Thanks for the encouragement Mike :)

Devoreflyer- You're so funny! Yep... Lets see there was Friday's pot luck at work, then Friday nights poker party beef dip and beef BBQ sandwiches to make for the boys and their friends, Saturday's nights party... No left overs :(

You are right- It does look like a ton of meat; it was yummy!
