need help deciding daiwa surf rod

I have a Daiwa Opus that that I wanna match up to a Daiwa surf rod to catch halibut by the jetty & whatever is around Long Beach. I'm debating between the 9 foot Emblem & the 12 foot sealine

I wanna go for the 12 footer Emblem but I'm afraid its too heavy & I can't find a store where I can actually play with them. I will be purchasing this through basspro because I have a giftcard there.

The ones you suggested might be to beefy for halibut off the jetty. Might be good for batray.

The only Daiwa surfs with similar specs to that are the 8 footers. Should I settle on those or just skip to another brand? I'm afraid I might not get the casting distance I want if its not long enough.
