a friend of mine wanted to go fishing so i tagged along. we went to tewinkle and while i was tying on a crank some concerned citizen was kind enough to tell us that my friend couldn't smoke and that we couldn't fish because according to him in January the city put up no fishing signs. about 10 minutes later the cops came and told us to leave so went to hb central. used cranks, sinkos and spinners and nothing

I had a friend who had an office years ago near Tewinkle lake and we used to catch some nice bass in there, but they definitely did ban fishing there. Also, your buddy needs to be careful smoking in any of the city parks cause he will get written up.

They aren't big and real noticable signs but its posted. My friend got talked to for smoking and a sign was then pointed out.

No fishing fail, sorry to hear that.

In other news, this isn't your review on Yelp is it?

"seriously where do i begin? first for all you smokers dont go! second for all you fisherman, yeah it does have a lake however me and a few buddies tried fishing their and immediately some random person came up to me to tell me that my buddy couldnt smoke and their was no fishing allowed. after fishing for another 10 minutes and not catching or seeing any fish the police came and shooed us away.

stay away from this crappy park if you enjoy your freedom"

Also, what the heck happened at that park to make them ban fishing? It looks like this was a popular place to fish just last year:

They didn't like replacing their pump lines after damage from snagged fishing lines. Typical city park meh.

woops posted that same link carpanglerdude but removed it since it was already posted. but that i will never understand because many city ponds have pump lines in them and no signs saying no fishing

I fished Tewinkle many times last year. I had heard that it was banned before as well but there were no signs and people fishing all over mainly kids.

they have some signs near the road and the parking lot but you would have to look for them to see it. on one of the islands of the lake there are many signs which clearly say no fishing.

I've fished this lake for years and when I heard the news probably 7-8 months back I was shocked and wondered why. This park was my local fishing hole I could head over from the house a block away and always pull a handful of bass out all the time. Until I finally seen the signs put up I fished there regularly and plan and simple there's no way you can not see the signs. Sucks but is what it is... It comes down to the water quality and the city's cost to keep it up and clean. I can't tell you how many times my lines have got cought on the airation pipes or fountain tie down lines and can see the city's issue of some line's becoming uncoupled, moved,or damaged causing water quality to be compromised and in turn costing the city more $$ . To me there system Sucks and the problem could be solved by a easy and better set up that wouldn't allow a fisherman's lines to become snagged . I think they choose a easier way to solve the issue by just banning fishing so they didn't need to change anything but in turn loosing some of the public that liked to use the parks recreation... Sad
